Jeffrey Foucault
Country and blues, love and lament

Tuesday, April 1st, 7:30pm $10 adv/ $12 door
<21 w/parent

FC Cosponsored Show
AT DON QUIXOTES MUSIC HALL

6275 Highway 9 in Downtown Felton, call 831-603-2294

Holed up in Iowa City for the coldest week of the year, Jeffrey Foucault teamed with legendary blues guitar player and producer Bo Ramsey (Greg Brown, Lucinda Williams) to create Ghost Repeater, a country and blues album at the crossroads of love and lament, exploring the hopefulness of new love and the seasickness of contemporary American living. Ghost repeaters are empty radio stations scattered around the country to re-broadcast demographically tailored playlists, endless echoes of American market culture, from thousands of miles away. Epidemic sameness, big-box stores, and the retail news cycle of ghost prisoners and God on Our Side create a backdrop against which Ghost Repeater unfolds a story of love and uncertainty. On another front, Jeffrey's song "Stripping Cane" was recently used in the BBC television program Timewatch: Bloody Omaha, a historical investigation of the Allied D-Day invasion at Omaha Beach in Normandy in June of 1944. For more information visit the BBC Timewatch website . www.jeffreyfoucault.com/music.html

UPDATE: Bloody Omaha will air in the US on the Smithsonian Channel in May. You can watch a preview of the film on the Smithsonian Channel website.

Hordes of listeners (well a few!) love internationally known crooner and recording artist, Ukulele Dick. Few are aware of his true identity, Dick DuJour, a guitarist and writer of music best described as "existentialist retro pop". DuJour's recently released CD, Music to Scare Children By, delights in the essential irony of the human condition and revels in our inexorable mortality, with tracks such as Be Kind to Your Brain and Good Old Body of Mine. Music to Scare Children By recently went plaid (only slightly below platinum, apparently).

Dick is joined "in the round" by singer/songwriters, Mick Overman (Bluesy Folk and Roll, with Jazz attitude), and Jayme Kelly Curtis (metaphysical blues and folkloric jazz). These three Santa Cruzians, who really are fine musicians, have teamed up and worked up a very entertaining, one-of-a-kind extravaganza, first aired at Don Quixote's in Felton a few months ago, where they were immediately offered 10's of $ to sign up for a Fiddling Cricket show! They back each other on a wide variety of instruments, vocals, and theatrics.

Ginny Reilly and David Maloney performed over 3000 shows together in the Bay Area-Seattle corridor in the 70's and 80's, singing and playing a mixture of originals and the best of other folk music. The blend of Ginny's lovely voice with David's fine tenor and guitar work made them the best loved duo on the West Coast folk scene. They came together again in 2000 for a few reunion concerts (the first being on the Fiddling Cricket stage). Since then they have put out several new and retrospective CD's and visit the Bay Area about once a year. They last played for Fiddling Cricket just about a year ago, and we get repeated requests for their return from loyal fans. We are delighted to have them back once more.

Peppino D'Agostino
Virtuoso Fingerstyle Guitarist. CD Release Show.

Peppino D'Agostino has recorded 12 critically acclaimed guitar albums since arriving in San Francisco from Italy as a street musician some 18 years ago. His busy touring schedule now stretches from major festivals on the West Coast to Carnegie Hall on the East to the Atrium in Prague. Few can match Peppino's combination of technical mastery, composition, and lyrical artistry on the steel string. His most recent accolade came from Guitar Player Magazine, when he was named Best Acoustic Guitarist in the Reader's Choice Awards in May 2007. Everything about his playing is rooted in his Italian heritage, whether as guitarist, composer, singer or teacher, so it is fitting that his most recent CD is titled Made in Italy. The material focuses on Italian folk and pop songs from the past few decades, as well as work by the classical composer, Gioachino Rossini and legendary film score composer Ennio Morricone.

"His passionate guitar work and resonant compositions will captivate any listener…" - Jazz Times

" …a giant of the acoustic guitar..." - San Diego Reader

Michael Stadler, longtime friend, who played at Peppino's wedding, will open the show with his own brand of guitar virtuosity.

Tracy Grammer is a brilliant artist and unique individual. Her voice is distinctive, as is her mastery over the instruments she plays.” - Joan Baez

Her pure voice conveys the simple truths of these songs; her gifts as a musician are like that of a painter who is a master of chiaroscuro, offering light and shadow at every turn~. I was honored and humbled by the invitation to sing on this record. “ - Mary Chapin Carpenter. American Noel is Tracy 's latest release. www.tracygrammer.com www.tracygrammer.com/html/music.html
