Bean Creek is a long time Santa Cruz band playing
traditional style bluegrass, but also including old country, mountain music,
and some originals. They have been voted Best Band by the Northern
California Bluegrass Society several times. Vocal harmonies and fine
pickin' place Bean Creek in the top echelon of the California traditional
scene.
They search for songs that have been lost or underappreciated
and make them their own, while still tapping into the tradition of the original
vocal rendition. They have carved a niche for themselves among the critical and
experienced bluegrass fans as the "real thing". Bean Creek sings and plays with
vigor and emotion.
Billy Pitrone leads the band on rhythm guitar
and vocals with the perfect natural baritone voice for his material.
Sarah Eblen, on doghouse bass, sings both lead and backup
vocals.
Rob Horgan plays both finger picking and frailing banjo
styles
Henry and Ella Warde (Hank and Ella's Fine Country
Band) have recently joined them. Henry plays guitar and mandolin and is a
fine singer. Ella plays fiddle and sings. |
