Meeting via a chance YouTube sighting, and fueled by rare musical chemistry, eclectic Roots-Folk songwriters Dan Frechette, guitar/vocals, and Laurel Thomsen, violin/vocals, prove that musical magic is not only possible, but as described by the Monterey Herald, "a match made in heaven". Both powerful and magnetic talents, over the past three years this Canadian-American duo has toured extensively throughout the U.S. and Canada, releasing two albums of their diverse and uplifting original material. "Their energy, winsome personalities, and toe tapping rhythms, keeping audiences engaged with every song" - Carlin Hall, Tappen, British Columbia
Now based in California, in the Santa Cruz mountains, this will be Dan and Laurel’s 108th concert in 2015!
The Rivervale Ramblers are a fun, eclectic group of five Santa Cruz and Soquel friends, formed to play Jug Band, Country Blues, Originals and String Jazz. They are glad to join their talented friends, Dan and Laurel, in what should be a great evening.

Often encapsulated as the "Sound of Maui" or the “Soundtrack of Hawaii” the music and sound of the group HAPA evokes a place that many people have referred to as heavenly. The sound? Expect to hear hypnotic, liquid guitar runs woven around clear, tenor Hawaiian vocals and immaculate harmonies driven by poetic lyrics exulting the rapture of the Hawaiian landscape, History and Mythology. Just add to this a dose of American Folk-Rock, you have what has been described, as “the most exciting and beautiful contemporary Hawaiian music the world knows” (Maui Times). The overriding quality of their music is one of passion, beauty and serenity, found in the majestic tones of the oli (chant), mele (song) and the exhilarating innovative sounds of virtuoso Guitar performances. "Masterful" is how Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Stephen Stills describes the groups Guitar skills. Tarvin Makia joins in on bass. http://www.hapa.com

Europe's Greatest All Time Bluegrass / American Roots Band

AT DON QUIXOTES MUSIC HALL
6275 Highway 9 in Downtown Felton, Reservations online or call 831-603-2294Famed on both sides of the Atlantic for its "Czechgrass" fusion of acoustic, bluegrass, folk and rock, Druha Trava is the foremost band to emerge from the flourishing Czech bluegrass scene. Its virtuoso musicians can satisfy the most hardcore fans with scorching versions of traditional bluegrass standards. But as the band´s name "Second Grass" implies, DT reaches far beyond the classic bluegrass genre for inspiration. The band uses American roots music as a starting point for a synthesis of jazz, pop, folk and even classical motifs, transforming an iconic American idiom into a richly textured, highly personal statement. DT was formed in 1991 by the influential singer-songwriter Robert Krestan, multi-instrumentalist Lubos Malina and other veterans of the acoustic music scene that had long thrived in Czechoslovakia. Krestan´s original songs -- renowned for their enigmatic, at times provocative, lyrics -- make up most of the band´s repertoire, and they and Krestan´s raw, gritty vocals set the band apart. http://www.druhatrava.us

Billboard Magazine called Brad Colerick "one of a baker's dozen of acts to watch in the folk community around the world." He has been a finalist in Kerrville, Falcon Ridge, and Sisters Folk Festival songwriter competitions, and his songs have landed in the top 5 of both the Folk-DJ and Euro-Americana charts. After 2 decades producing music for ads where he worked alongside such icons as Johnny Cash, BB King, Shawn Colvin and Buddy Guy, he turned a lot of heads in the roots music world when he jumped back onto the artist side. He has appeared on many hallowed roots music stages from McCabe’s in LA, Freight & Salvage in Berkeley, to the Bluebird in Nashville, and the Birchmere in Washington DC. www.bradcolerick.com
Michael Martyn is a 30-year veteran of the Santa Cruz acoustic folk music scene, blending country, folk and blues into the modern Americana music format. The story-telling and musical style will remind you of Ramblin Jack Elliot and Jerry Jeff Walker. Accompanying Mike will be his long time side man, Sean Woodward, a long time bay area musician who has played with a host of local bands and singer songwriters.
