Steve and Cindy have been performing together for 25 years, bringing together their love of traditional music and their wealth of original songs. Accompanying themselves with guitars and concertinas, their live performances are known for rich harmony, compelling songs and a good dose of humor. Their six duet albums have appeared on many folk Top Ten lists, from the WFMT Midnight Special (Chicago) to The Boston Globe.

Steve Gillette has been writing songs since the 1960's. Since Ian and Sylvia first recorded Darcy Farrow in 1965, Steve's songs have been covered by John Denver, Garth Brooks, Linda Ronstadt, Tammy Wynette, Waylon Jennings, and many others. But Steve's own versions are some of the best, with his warm baritone voice and his unique finger-picking guitar style (using a flat-pick and two fingers).

Accompanying herself on guitar, banjo, concertina, or mountain dulcimer, Cindy Mangsen is known for her compelling interpretations of traditional ballads, as well as for her own writing and her wonderful ear for harmony. She has recorded several solo albums (Songs of Experience received the Editor's Choice Award from Crossroads), as well as collaborations with Steve Gillette, and others

"Steve and Cindy have hit on a combination that consistently produces high quality recordings and entertaining stage shows. Their voices and their styles meld seamlessly with a gentleness and a maturity that is unmatched in the world of folk duos." - Matt Watroba, Sing Out Magazine

Bean Creek is a bluegrass band, hailing from right here on the central coast that plays straight ahead traditional style bluegrass and a pinch of lively old-time music. They play with an authentic bravado that excites, then soothes, then tears up, in song after song of heartbreak, love, loss and home. This band was voted Best Bluegrass Band last year by the Northern California Bluegrass Society (for the second time) and also have captured Best Vocalist (Billy Pitrone), Best Banjo Player (Rob Horgan), and Best Mandolin Player (Peter Hicks) in previous years. Vocal harmonies and fine pickin' places Bean Creek in the top echelon of the California traditional bluegrass scene. They have had the privilege to open for IBMA winners Danny Paisley, Michael Cleveland and James King. Band members include Billy Pitrone on guitar and vocals, Sarah Eblen on bass and vocals, Rob Horgan on banjo and Peter Hicks on mandolin, fiddle and vocals. www.beancreekbluegrass.com

Bay Area singer, guitarist, and song sleuth Sylvia Herold mines the motherlode of American jazz and popular song from the 1930s through the 1960s. Songs of wit and romance by composers Cole Porter, Hoagy Carmichael, George Gershwin, and Harold Arlen are lovingly rendered in a voice the San Francisco Examiner calls "mesmerizing." Herold was a member of the much beloved swing vocal trio Cats & Jammers, and of The Hot Club of San Francisco. Currently, she tours and records with Wake the Dead, The Lonestar Retrobates and The Sylvia Herold Ensemble. She has appeared on more than 25 albums, including five solo recordings. Herold is a resident teacher at the Freight & Salvage Coffeehouse in Berkeley, Calif., and teaches guitar and voice at adult music camps across the U.S. http://www.sylviaherold.com

Chuck Ervin is an in-demand bassist in the Bay Area's vibrant jazz and acoustic-music scenes. He teaches bass at the Freight & Salvage in Berkeley, at adult music camps, and at his Oakland studio. https://www.basschuck.com/

"Sylvia Herold is one of those gifted musicians who has it all. Exceptional guitar playing, amazingly beautiful vocal chops, and the musical knowledge to back it all up. I love her music and musicianship." -Jim Nunally, musician/producer

As the L.A. Weekly aptly put it, “This West Coast group deftly dashes across decades of American music to create a sound that's steeped in tradition but never bogged down by traditionalism.” An eclectic aggregation composed of singer/multi-instrumentalists Dan Wheetman, Jon Wilcox, Mike Phelan, Ed Littlefield Jr., Jerry Fletcher, and Bob Nichols – the band can sing and play anything with spot-on feel, from roots to rock, blues to bluegrass, gospel to stone country, which is what they've been doing – to the ongoing delight of a fervent cult that includes many of their fellow musicians – throughout their first quarter century as a working unit. Their trademark multi-part harmonies never cease to captivate, whether on record or in live performance. www.marleysghost.com
