Among the finest interpreters of traditional songs of her generation, Portland, Oregon's Colleen Raney has just returned from a tour with Irish-American supergroup, Solas, and will be doing a swing down through California with Stuart Mason and Ryan Davidson. Colleen grew up inspired by the Irish and Scottish songs and tunes in the rich Irish community of Seattle. Her four solo CDs have staked her claim as a serious presence in Celtic music today and provoked Hearth Music to enthuse, "Singing with a deep love for the tradition and the dark poetry of Celtic song, Colleen has been drawing new life from old ballads and renewing our love for Celtic music." Irish Music Magazine called Raney "among the best in her genre." http://www.colleenraney.com

Veteran artist Stuart Mason (guitar, mandola, banjo, vocals) is a member of the popular Celtic band, Molly's Revenge and the old-time bluegrass band Little Black Train and has played at festivals from China to Ireland. He has also won awards for traditional singing and for song writing. His music blog, Fiddlefreak, is now 9 years old.

Ryan Davidson (bouzouki, vocals) is known for his powerful vocals and soulful style of folk storytelling. After a decade on the road playing rock-n-roll, he studied voice and jazz and then he was accepted into the Irish World Academy of Music & Dance in Limerick, Ireland where he studied the Irish Bouzouki and received an MA in Ethnomusicology.

Stuart was personally given permission to use the band's name by Johnny Cash himself. He was also honored by the Man in Black with an invitation to record songs at Cash's own home in Hendersonville, Tennessee. Two other iconic music legends, Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard, were also early believers who were instrumental in helping Stuart get his start. www.bsojc.com www.reverbnation.com/bastardsonsofjohnnycash

6275 Highway 9 in Downtown Felton, Reservations online or call 831-603-2294

The Freight Hoppers are a four-piece string band presenting hard-driving old time music with an emotional, raw excitement that keeps one foot planted in the past and the other in the present. Of course that's only when they keep their feet still! The band started presenting their energetic take on fiddle band music four times a day, seven days a week at the Great Smoky Mountains Railway shortly after forming in 1992. Their repertoire includes music that was first recorded in the late 1920's and early 1930's and spans geographically from Mississippi to West Virginia. The heart of the band is mountain fiddling complemented by the clawhammer banjo and vocals of Frank Lee, while the rhythm section of string bass and Allie Burbrink on guitar and vocals hold down the ensemble. This show will feature the band's original fiddler, David Bass, and guest bassist Chris DeVictor. Based out of the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina, The Freight Hoppers draw from a deep source of rural southern music for their inspiration, and they are proud to present this music that is still meaningful today. http:// www.thefreighthoppers.com

Australian singer-songwriter, Audrey Auld, was one of a kind: equal parts feisty, hilarious and true. It was through her songs that she was able to venture into the dark places of life and shine a humorous light upon them all while reminding us that we are all just "spiritual beings having a human experience". Audrey, who lived in Marin county, Nashville, and then back in California again, passed away on Aug 9th, after a battle with brain tumors, leaving a legacy of music that should continue to be heard. Nina Gerber, Jeri Jones and Pam Delgado have stepped forward to keep bringing her songs to you. All three have at one time or another been honored to share her stage, most notably the incomparable guitarist, Nina Gerber, who performed with her on and off since 2005. Pam Delgado and Jeri Jones (2/5 of the band Blame Sally), in addition to several public appearances, also joined her towards the end at San Quentin prison to perform songs from her album Hey Warden, a collaboration with her beloved writing students on "the inside". Please join Nina, Pam, and Jeri at the Ugly Mug Cafe on for a special night celebrating Audrey and her music. www.ninagerber.com

Austin Lounge Lizards
Hysterical satirical skewering through song
Thursday, June 29th, 7:30pm $20/$20
<21 w/parent
FC Cosponsored Show with Snazzy Productions
AT DON QUIXOTES MUSIC HALL
6275 Highway 9 in Downtown Felton, Reservations online or call 831-603-2294

The Austin Lounge Lizards are arguably the perfect pairing of their hometown's slogan, “Live Music Capital of the World,” and its unofficial motto, “Keep Austin Weird.” Since 1980, the Lizards have been spoofing the topics American families try to avoid at the Thanksgiving table: subjects like politics, religion, romance, and themselves. With pointed lyrics, precise harmonies and instrumental expertise, the band has become legendary for its satirical skewering through song.
