Carolyn Sills moved to Santa Cruz from New York a few years ago. The Big Apple's loss was definitely our gain! In NY she played with country/rockabilly outfits and sang jazz with the likes of Les Paul. Here Santa Cruz immediately took Carolyn to its heart, whether in her Patsy Cline tribute shows, or recreating the sultry torch vocals of the 40's and 50's, or in her Santa is Real Christmas spectacular show, which will be at Don Quixote's on 18th Dec for the 4th time. This year she will play The Mug with with help from some of her red hot Carolyn Sills Combo (Gerard Egan, guitar; Sunshine Jackson, vocals; Carolyn bass and vocals) and will perform material from their CD, and a mix of standards, country, and swing covers. They are also likely to throw in favorite 50's Christmas songs from the likes of Brenda Lee, Peggy Lee, Elvis, and Eartha Kitt. http://www.carolynsills.com

"Channeling the playful, sultry approach of the pop vocalists of the 1940s and '50s as easily as she plays twang, surf or spaghetti-western instrumentals, Carolyn Sills is a multifaceted singer/songwriter/bassist with a penchant for pop." - Santa Cruz Weekly

Rhan Wilson is best known for devising the Altared Christmas show, but he is also the guru of the Santa Cruz Uke Club, and plays in many combinations and styles of music. He was one of the winners of the Gail Rich Awards for the arts in Santa Cruz County from the Santa Cruz Sentinel a couple of years ago. This time he teams up with his partner, Rick Zeek for a duo of folk, country and pop! www.RhanWilson.com.

This unique collaborative effort between two uniquely gifted musicians is bound to be a revelation to traditional music fans on several counts. Peppino D’Agostino
Hailed as a Giant and a Poet of the Acoustic Guitar

Sunday, December 28th, 7.00pm $15/$17
Under 21 With Parent

FC Cosponsored Show Presented with Snazzy Productions
AT DON QUIXOTES MUSIC HALL

6275 Highway 9 in Downtown Felton, Reservations online or call 831-603-2294

A native of Italy, Peppino D'Agostino emerged on the musical scene in the late 1980's and helped redefine the boundaries of the acoustic guitar. His virtuosic technique, penchant for open tunings, and percussive effects are the basis of his unique compositional style which has been inspiring musicians and audiences alike for years. Add to that his natural warmth, playfulness, and broad musical tastes and you have the recipe for what he calls “minestrone music”. D'Agostino continues to evolve and grow in ways that would have been hard to predict when he was first showcasing his melodic yet emotionally intense style on the recordings Acoustic Spirit, Close to the Heart, and Every Step of the Way, which was named one of the top three acoustic guitar albums of all time by Acoustic Guitar Magazine readers in 2008. The readers of Guitar Player voted him Best Acoustic Guitarist in 2007, and the following year in Acoustic Guitar's People's Choice Awards he won a Bronze medal for Best Acoustic Album of All Time for his 2002 release Every Step of The Way (tying with Leo Kottke, one of his prime inspirations). http://peppinodagostino.com
