There is truly a mystical quality to their playing. They create a lyrical sound that is at once unique as well as seamless.” – Lori Lander Murphy, Irish Philadelphia.

RUNA draws on the diverse musical backgrounds of its band members and offers a contemporary and refreshing approach to traditional and more recently composed Celtic material. Through their repertoire of both highly energetic and graceful, acoustic melodies, along with their fusion of music from Ireland, Scotland, Canada, and the United States, this vocal and instrumental ensemble gives its arrangements of traditional songs and tunes a fresh sound. “Best of all, RUNA sounds like no one else.” – Travis Rogers, Jr., Music Life and Times www.runamusic.com

I See Hawks In LA, Red Meat, Rick Shea
WELCOME TO JUKE BOX HONKY-TONK HEAVEN

Sunday, July 28th, 7.00pm $10/$12
20 and over

FC Cosponsored Show
AT DON QUIXOTES MUSIC HALL

6275 Highway 9 in Downtown Felton, Reservations online or call 831-603-2294

I See Hawks In LA: “Southern California is a land of strange, dangerous and beautiful contrasts. A mountain lion prowls outside the tract home bedroom of a teenage girl while she talks, oblivious to its existence, on her cell phone. A rattlesnake slithers across an empty shopping mall parking lot on a hot summer night while the employees count up the days profit and turn out the lights. While paparazzi chase the latest talent free celebrity, a talented, literate bunch of soulful musicians create honest and wise roots music for the ages. I See Hawks are indeed one of California's unique treasures.” - Dave Alvin http://www.iseehawks.com

Red Meat began in a Mission District garage in 1993. But they trace their musical roots much farther back – to the hard honky-tonk songs of their youths in Iowa, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Ohio, as well as the rock music of the 60s and 70s that they grew up with. It was this sound that they unleashed on an unsuspecting San Francisco still reeling from the demise of a strong 80s punk rock scene. And in a city known for its its off-kilter bands, Red Meat did the craziest thing yet: they returned to their roots, writing and performing hard Bakersfield-style country music to sometimes dumbfounded early audiences. http://www.redmeat.net

Rick Shea: As a sideman, Shea has worked with everyone from roots rock kingpin Dave Alvin to folk chanteuse Katy Moffatt to indie rock legends R.E.M. As a member of Dave Alvin's band, The Guilty Men, Rick toured the U.S. and Europe for 6 years as an opener and multi-instrumental sideman, playing everywhere from Hollywood to Austin to Madison Square Garden and played on most of Dave's albums during that time including the Grammy winning Public Domain. http:// www.rickshea.com

A storyteller as much as a songwriter, Michael Gaither was raised on the Central Coast and takes the "write what you know" idea to heart, wrapping songs around small-town life with humorous takes on everyday stuff. His newest - and third - CD, Starlite Drive-In Saturday Night, was a featured release on KPIG's Fresh Pork Chops and has received international airplay. www.michaelgaither.com
