The Mystery Trees, are a rocking, gritty, roots music electric guitar conglomerate featuring stellar performers: Dorian Michael and Kenny Blackwell on electric guitars with Paul Olguin on bass and Bill Severance on drums. It's 2/3 vocal, 1/3 instrumental, based on blues, rockabilly, alt-vintage-country, bluegrass, and some rock and roll. But it's done with a thoroughly modern attitude, since they are not a museum piece, and don't copy records. Each player brings a lifetime of musical know-how to the ensemble. It's a lot of fun, and yes, the drummer knows how to play in a small space like The Mug. Dancing is encouraged, assuming there is any room to do so. Obviously this show is a deviation from "acoustic", but the right spirit is there! Dorian and Kenny are better known as virtuoso acoustic guitar and mandolin players! www.kennyblackwell.com

Once you hear Jonathan Edwards' voice , you'll want to hear it again and again. His rich, warm tenor has a distinctively unique and natural quality. Jonathan has acquired an enviable track record , one of skill and grace in the sometimes brutal world of the music business. And he has done it while keeping intact his ear for a strong melody and love of a beautifully crafted song. During his 36-year career he has recorded 15 albums and penned such notable hits as "Shanty" and "Sunshine", which earned him a gold record in 1971. This classic song, covered by Paul Westerberg , is included in the 1995 release of Friends, a compilation of music for the hit NBC-TV show, and is heard in the 1994 Will Ferrell film Anchorman and included on the soundtrack. His 1987 children's album,Little Hands, selected by the National Library Association as a Notable Children's Recording, has sold over 20,000 copies and is still going strong. Live from the Starving Ear is a 90 minute performance of Roy Zimmerman's wickedly inventive satirical songs. The Tea Party, the economy, same-sex marriage, Socialism, Creationism, guns, taxes, abstinence, Osama and Obama all come under tuneful scrutiny. "There's a whole new political landscape - painted by Jackson Pollock", he says.

In twelve albums over twenty years Roy has brought the sting of satire to the struggle for peace and social justice. He has been heard on HBO, Showtime, and NPR and is a featured blogger on the Huffington Post. His YouTube videos have over six million views, garnering tens of thousands of comments (many of them coherent, he says). In the distant past, in LA, he and a young Stevie Coyle were a stand-up comedy team, called the Reagan Brothers, and then continued in the same vein in the very successful comedy folk quartet, The Foremen. www.royzimmerman.com

"Zimmerman displays a lacerating wit and keen awareness of society's foibles that bring to mind a latter-day Tom Lehrer" - LA Times

"I congratulate Roy on reintroducing literacy to comedy songs" - Tom Lehrer

Twilight is folk guitarist Mark Lemaire and his partner, vocalist Cindy van Empel. Mark's virtuoso solo guitar work shines on its own, but when coupled with the ethereal quality of Cindy's vocals, and the stellar harmonies between them, the result can be mesmerizing. Mark was a star performer some 25 years ago, sharing the stage with the likes of Maria Muldaur and Tracy Chapman, but tendonitis diverted him into a recording engineering career. Only recently has he returned to live performance. Cindy has been singing in bands since high school and once toured Europe with the group, Madrigals, performing music from the Renaissance and Middle Ages. Mark and Cindy met in 2008. It was immediately clear how perfectly their voices blended and Twilight was formed.

Singer-songwriters Greg Beattie and Victoria Blythe, along with instrumentalist Dave Decker, combine voices and a half dozen acoustic instruments into original songs that are both fresh and timeless--from the roots of American traditional song forms to explorations of contemporary sounds. Special guest guitarist, Mark Holzinger, crosses many different genres including swing/Jazz (Lost Weekend), Gypsy Jazz, and Americana (Pitchfork Trio). He's played with Bobby McFerrin, Joe Williams, Ricki Lee Jones, Marvin Gaye.....

Their songs and performances have captured the prestigious Kerrville New Folk prize, grand prize in the West Coast Songwriters International song contest, Falcon Ridge Folk Festival Emerging Artists, the Napa Valley Emerging Songwriter award, West Coast Songwriter's Association Song of the Year honors, and have appeared in TV shows and movies. They have been recorded by other artists and are featured on numerous compilations along with such well known artists as Joan Baez, Cheryl Wheeler and Livingston Taylor.

Their live show is a mix of Victoria's soaring, ethereal vocals and hauntingly beautiful fiddle on pure folk ballads and sultry jazz-fusion torch songs, Greg's energetic and insightful musical treatment of birth, death and everything in between, and Dave's constantly creative lead-guitar commentary.

Twilight is folk guitarist Mark Lemaire and his partner, vocalist Cindy van Empel. Mark's virtuoso solo guitar work shines on its own, but when coupled with his song writing, the ethereal quality of Cindy's vocals, and the stellar harmonies between them, the result can be mesmerizing.
