Beautiful World is Gilkyson’s masterpiece.” - All Music Guide

The daughter of successful songwriter Terry Gilkyson, Eliza is a third generation musician who grew up in Los Angeles knowing that her life would revolve around music. “I got into it for all the wrong reasons, more as a survival tool than anything else, but it proved to serve me more than I dared to imagine.” As a teenager, she recorded demos for her father. adventurous--political an accomplished songwriter whose songs have been covered by artists as diverse as Dean Martin, Johnny Cash (“Memories Are Made of This”) andThe White Stripes (“Look Me Over Closely”), and whose credits include such standards as “Greenfields,” “Marianne” and “The Bare Necessities ” (from the Disney film Jungle Book). www.elizagilkyson.com and www.ninagerber.com

AT MISSION CITY COFFEE ROASTING CO.

2221 The Alameda, Santa Clara, CA 95050
call 831-475-4938 or email Brundle@attglobal.net

Gabrielle Louise is a 22 year old singer-songwriter already well-known for the power and range of her vocals, which move easily from earthy folk to smoky jazz, plus the quality of her material (twice finalist in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest). Trained at Berklee School of Music in Boston, she currently tours extensively from coast to coast, bringing her brand of "homegrown folk" to new towns one at a time. She already has three indie CDs and is working the next.

Gabrielle visited us last year, splitting a bill with Megan Slankard. Her visit was notable for three things: her charm on stage; her excellent singing, songwriting, and guitar playing; and the fact that she tours in a van converted to run on the used vegetable oil from the venues she plays! It's a delight to have one of our youngest performers return for a full show. She will be accompanied by her bass player. http://www.gabriellelouise.org/

"Gabrielle Louise sings and writes on the highest plane. Her lyrics are poetic and her singing is nothing short of amazing1" - Michael Martin Murphey

FC Cosponsored Show with
AT DON QUIXOTES MUSIC HALL

6275 Highway 9 in Downtown Felton, call 831-603-2294

Matt Flinner has made a career out of playing acoustic music in new ways. Starting out as a banjo prodigy who was playing bluegrass festivals before he entered his teens, Flinner later took up the mandolin, won the National Banjo Competition in Winfield, KS in 1990, and won the mandolin award there the following year. He moved to Nashville in 1999 and is now widely considered one of the hottest and most creative mandolin players on the acoustic scene. His two solo albums for Compass Records, The View from Here and Latitude, both featured bluegrass stalwarts Todd Phillips, David Grier, Stuart Duncan, Jerry Douglas and Darol Anger, and received high critical acclaim. Flinner actively tours with Phillips and Grier (Phillips, Grier and Flinner) and the Modern Mandolin Quartet, as well as with his own Matt Flinner Acoustic Trio and Matt Flinner Quartet, which released its Walking on the Moon CD on Compass in 2002. He tours actively with the Matt Flinner Trio, as a member of the 'new acoustic' trio Phillips, Grier & Flinner, as a member of Darrell Scott's band, and with guitarist Frank Vignola (David Grisman Quintet). He most recently appeared on comedian Steve Martin's new recording The Crow and the Vignola Collectives' March 09 release, Gypsy Grass.http://compassrecords.com/matt-flinner

Flinner provides the next logical evolutionary step to David Grisman's unique dawg style, and does it with a nod to the past and a vision of the future." ~ Bluegrass Now

Ginny Reilly and David Maloney performed over 3000 shows together in the Bay Area-Seattle corridor in the 70's and 80's, singing and playing a mixture of originals and the best of other folk music. The blend of Ginny's lovely voice with David's fine tenor and guitar work made them the best loved duo on the West Coast folk scene. They came together again in 2000 for a few reunion concerts (the first being on the Fiddling Cricket stage). Since then they have put out several new and retrospective CD's and visit the Bay Area once or twice a year.

We get repeated requests for their return from loyal fans, and try to accommodate that once a year. We are delighted to have them back once more.

Claude Bourbon is a French acoustic guitarist, who plays and sings folk and blues! He grew up in Switzerland, where he was classically trained, and lives in Portsmouth, England.

Actually he is a virtuoso fingerstylist, fusing blues, jazz, folk, classical and Spanish guitar. This is demonstrated, more than ably, on his latest double CD release, where side 1 has 10 instrumental tracks in different styles and evoking different geographies, and side 2 has 9 vocal tracks showing his bluesish origins (J J Cale comes to mind). Claude started touring, in a band, in 1984, switched to solo playing, writing and recording in 1990, and ever since has toured giving live performances. http://www.myspace.com/claudebourbon

FC Cosponsored Show with
AT DON QUIXOTES MUSIC HALL

6275 Highway 9 in Downtown Felton, call 831-603-2294

NOld school but never old, Boulder Acoustic Society is the new wave of American roots music. It’s what happens when four songwriters get together to mash up blues, folk, gospel, indie and world music to soothe their musical curiosity. Whether it’s a festival stage, performing arts center, club venue or a late night campground set, B.A.S. delivers musical diversity throughout their set as if it’s normal. B.A.S.’s music is intense and exciting for listeners, with something new and interesting at every turn. The unique lineup of violin, accordion, bass and percussion support sharp vocal hooks and powerful grooves. The energy that B.A.S. brings to a stage can tip a festival into overdrive or mesmerize a club audience as they dance into the wee hours. All of this comes from four guys who wear vintage clothes, savor small batch bourbon and rock the night. The Boulder Acoustic Society, are dedicated to the rich world of acoustic traditions and innovations using an exotic and energetic lineup of violin, guitar, double bass, accordion, percussion and vocals, plus a quadruple ukulele threat! Winner of the 2004 Notes at 9,000 Emerging Artist Series in Colorado, BAS was lauded as "refreshing, entertaining, enlightening and in a professional class above the others". Since then they have recorded three successful CDs and placed 2nd in the 2006 Telluride Bluegrass Festival Band Competition - not bad since they are not a bluegrass band! The group consists of Kailin Yong, classical and swing jazz violinist (and vocalist), winner of 1st prize in the Singapore National Music Competition, Aaron Kleim, a French Horn player turned double bassist/vocalist, Scott McCormack, on funky accordion, piano and soulful vocals, and Scott Aller, the most recent and youngest member, on all kinds of percussion.

BAS have played for Fiddling Cricket since their inception, pretty much reinventing themselves each time they come. - originally as a quartet, then as a trio, then a jumping 5 piece, and now back to quartet. They are definitely one of the most exciting acts we have ever had.http://boulderacousticsociety.net/

"Very cool" - Mark O'Connor
"Here is the future of string band music on a silver plate" - Darol Anger
