Annabelle Chvostek, formerly of The Wailin’ Jennys is a ridiculously talented musician from Montreal by way of Toronto who plays guitar, mandolin, violin, organ, accordion and who knows what else. Vocally, she's up to any task, from pop highs to gritty blues lows. When Annabelle Chvostek joined the Wailin' Jennys in 2004, the rest of the world found out what a grassroots network of Canadian roots fans had known for several years: that Chvostek is a formidable songwriter, a versatile multi-instrumentalist, and a fearless and innovative artist whose beguiling left-of-centre compositions straddle the divide between mainstream roots and acoustic indie pop. Chvostek's songs were repeatedly singled out by critics as highlights of the Jennys' Juno-nominated CD, Firecracker. "Devil's Paintbrush Road" is still the most downloaded song from the album on iTunes, and it was the #1 song at US folk radio in 2006. Myshkin’s Ruby Warblers Gypsy Torch Punk Chanteuse Myshkin has stories to tell and the means to tell them. She writes with a dark and subtle wit, raw honesty, and a painter’s eye. Her compositions bear the mark of an artist who finds inspiration all over the map and incorporates far flung musical ideas with a passionate ease. Myshkin's Ruby Warblers is an ever-evolving crew of genius gamblers whose forte ranges from tango to to old time to modern classical to jazz, and each leave an imprint of their unique talents on the music. Myshkin plays an 80 year old martin tenor guitar, a vintage gibson six string, and a jumbo lowden acoustic. Her voice is her finest instrument though, and she wields it like a fortune teller, an acrobat, a hunter, a gift. www.annabelle.org www.myshkinsrubywarblers.com

Newgrass, Gospelgrass, Rock N' Rollgrass …true innovators like John Cowan break boundaries and personify innovation. John’s ability to take audiences on a musical journey through multiple genres has made him one of the most unique vocal artists of his generation. John Cowan rose to fame when he became the lead singer for New Grass Revival. He and band mates Sam Bush, Bela Fleck and Pat Flynn introduced a new generation of music fans to an explosive, experimental brand of bluegrass…Newgrass! New Grass Revival disbanded in 1990. On his own, John was free to give his creative muse full rein. He recorded a series of critically acclaimed albums spanning the musical spectrum, often bending and blending genres. In the early nineties, John joined the Doobie Brothers and lent both his bass and vocal skills to this iconic band on tour. However, after just two short years, John once again felt restless and returned to a solo career that allowed him more expressive freedom. As the 21st century began, John found himself coming full circle, returning to his roots in Newgrass and forming The John Cowan Band. John has always surrounded himself with only the finest acoustic musicians. The band’s line-up features John on bass and lead vocals, Jeff Autry on guitar (acknowledged as one of America’s best flat-pickers), John Frazier on mandolin (a true rising star in the acoustic world), Shad “Lightning” Cobb on fiddle (world renowned for his blazing finger work) and Bryon Larrance on percussion (the newest addition to JCB, allowing for an expanded repertoire). http://www.johncowan.com

Audiences have been laughing with Kacey Jones for decades...and laughing right along with them are People Magazine, USA Today, and A Prairie Home Companion host, Garrison Keillor. " America needs a good laugh right now," says Kacey "...it's still the best medicine." And nobody knows how to spin life's little miseries into a good laugh, accompanied by great music, better than Miss Jones. Her new album, Donald Trump's Hair includes gems like, "I Can Always Get Skinny but You'll Never Be Tall," "I Wanna Be Up Front Like Dolly," and "Whatever Happened to Kenny Rogers' Face."
Music Connection Magazine says: "The irrepressible Nashville-based singer-songwriter Kacey Jones returns with "Donald Trump's Hair," a new collection of uproarious songs including "Christmas in Rehab," "Whatever Happened to Kenny Rogers' Face" and the title song, dedicated to what sprouts from the financier's fantastic follicles. Highly recommended!". http://www.kaceyjones.com

Jones, a KPIG favorite, invited her longtime-friend and fellow songwriter-humorist, Chuck McCabe, to kick off tonight's show at 7:30. McCabe's claim to fame includes: 1) he once went skinny-dippin' with Juice Newton; 2) he fell asleep on Linda Ronstadt's couch; 3) he dated The Smother's Brother's sister. He also won the Woody Guthrie Songwriting Contest (2002). His original song, "I'd Rather Be in Redding " is quickly becoming a KPIG fave. McCabe will be joined onstage by multi-instrumentalist, Joe Weed who co-produced Chuck's album, Creatures of Habit in a World of Change, featuring musicians, Norton Buffalo, Todd Phillips, and of course, fiddle great Joe Weed. Joe has recorded six albums of his own including, Swanee ~ The Music of Stephen Foster. Weed has also worked on sound tracks for Ken Burns, Public Television and NPR. Bass player, Rolfe Wyer, will accompany McCabe and Weed.http:// www.chuck-mccabe.com
