Dorian Michael and Kenny Blackwell

Friday, July 11th, 8.00pm, $15/$17
AT MISSION CITY COFFEE ROASTING CO.

2221 The Alameda, Santa Clara, CA 95050

Dorian Michael, fingerstyle acoustic guitarist (also an electric blues band guitarist) has spent 40 years playing professionally in the genres of folk, blues, jazz, and rock and roll (and occasionally in orchestra pits) - so as a solo acoustic performer he describes his music as contemporary acoustic - original music reflecting interests in a variety of styles, but still original. Dorian has many CDs to his credit, the latest acoustic CD being Sycamore Creek

Kenny Blackwell, originally from Michigan, studied mandolin with the great southern player, Jethro Burns, before joining Richard Greene's band in California in 1993 and later founding the legendary bluegrass band, The Laurel Canyon Ramblers. His mandolin and guitar work can be heard in numerous TV and film scores, in addition to his CDs.

Dorian and Kenny met by chance in a music store and then again at a jam. After that they started playing together, covering a wide variety of roots music. They now have two duo CDs, Out of Stock"]] and, most recently, the live recording, All Dressed Up. This is their fourth appearance at Fiddling Cricket, and they opened the series at Mission City last year. They are always a lot of fun and we welcome them back again. www.dorianmichael.com/kennydorian.html

Gabrielle Louise / Megan Slankard

Friday, July 18th, 8.00pm, $15/$17
AT MISSION CITY COFFEE ROASTING CO.

2221 The Alameda, Santa Clara, CA 95050

Gabrielle Louise is a 21 year old emerging singer-songwriter known for the power and range of her vocals, which move easily from earthy folk to smoky jazz, and the quality of her material (twice finalist in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest). Trained at Berklee School of Music in Boston, she currently divides her time between New York and Denver, and tours from coast to coast, bringing her brand of "homegrown folk" to new towns one at a time. She already has two indie CDs and is working on a third. Gabrielle will be accompanied by her bass player in this performance.Gabrielle Louise

Although not much older than Gabrielle, Megan Slankard, based in San Francisco, is already a well-established acoustic folk-rocker troubadour. She made her first CD at 18 and now has three, with her second, Freaky Little Story making it into the top 10 sales at both CDBaby and Amazon.com. Live, Megan is a vocal risk taker and gives everything she has, whether solo or with a full band. With CD sales of over 20,000 she has quite a following.Megan Slankard

"…a breath of fresh air in the world of female pop singers, Slankard's sound is vibrant, emotional, and very addictive…." - Santa Cruz Sentinel

Cadillac Sky
Folk and Roll Poised for Greatness
Sunday, July 20th, 7.00pm $12/$14
<21 w/parent

FC Cosponsored Show
AT DON QUIXOTES MUSIC HALL

6275 Highway 9 in Downtown Felton, call 831-603-2294

Cadillac Sky will be featured at this spring's Strawberry Music Festival. They are one hot progressive bluegrass unit. When the first strains of Cadillac Sky's “Born Lonesome” come pulsing out of the speakers, it's immediately apparent that there's a different kind of roots band on the scene—one wrapped in tradition, but not bound by it. That song, which opens their Skaggs Family Records debut, Blind Man Walking, has a high, lonesome sound that would do the great Ralph Stanley proud. And when they follow that up with “You Again,” a song where they display the ferocious intensity of the great rock and roll bands, it's obvious Cadillac Sky is a band poised for greatness. www.cadillacsky.net

"This French guitarist was actually born in Algeria and has long been fascinated with his North African roots as well as the Celtic folk traditions of western Europe. After making a name for himself as a folk musician in the late '70s, Bensusan began to incorporate jazz and classical elements into his music, creating a virtuosic, highly original style on the acoustic guitar."
