The Boulder Acoustic Society, are dedicated to the rich world of acoustic traditions and innovations using an exotic and energetic lineup of violin, guitar, double bass, accordion, and vocals, plus a triple ukulele threat! Winner of the 2004 Notes at 9,000 Emerging Artist Series in Colorado, BAS was lauded as "refreshing, entertaining, enlightening and in a professional class above the others".

Since then they have recorded two CDs and are working on the 3rd, and placed 2nd in the 2006 Telluride Bluegrass Festival Band Competition - not bad since they are not a bluegrass band! The group consists of Kailin Yong, classical and swing jazz violinist (and vocalist), winner of 1st prize in the Singapore National Music Competition, and founder of what he calls "Chinesegrass"; Aaron Kleim, who is a French Horn player turned double bassist; acoustic guitarist, and Brad Jones, who has been gigging and recording since he was 13. In 2007 Scott Higgins, their marimba player (and classical percussionist) leaves the band to raise a family and continue his classical career. He is replaced by Chicago native, Scott McCormack, on funky accordion and soulful vocals.

"Very cool" - Mark O'Connor
"Here is the future of string band music on a silver plate" - Darol Anger

Reflects the good old U.S. of A., warts and all... colorful tales...reminds us there's a whole wide world outside our doors." --Rolling Stone

This down to earth musical storyteller, with his dry, barb-witted social commentary combined with a deep underlying compassion, knows that the best stories are the little things in the lives of everyday people trying to muddle through with some grace. His great gift as a writer is to infuse these stories with humanity and humor, making them resonate profoundly with his listeners. His spoken introductions to his songs can be as spellbinding as his colorful lyrics, which he brings to life with a well-travelled voice and a delivery that's natural and conversational. His groove-oriented strumming and fingerpicking draw on influences from the mountains of western North Carolina where he now lives, and from lots of different good old traditional folk stuff of all kinds. www.chuckbrodsky.com

Juber spent three years recording and touring with the band. During that time he won a Best Rock Instrumental Grammy® Award for the track "Rockestra" from the Wings album Back To The Egg. After Wings disbanded in 1981, Juber embarked on a career as a solo artist, composer and arranger, and soon developed a reputation as a world-class guitar virtuoso, being voted #1 by Fingerstyle Guitar magazine. He has released 11 critically acclaimed solo albums, including LJ Plays the Beatles and Guitarist. His new release, One Wing, is a collection of solo guitar arrangements drawn from the Paul McCartney and Wings repertoire. www.laurencejuber.com

Although an accomplished composer in his own right, Laurence Juber has recently gained much attention for his fine interpretations of Beatles and Paul McCartney's music. Now, he focuses on the music of an earlier era, arranging and playing some of Harold Arlen's most well-known tunes on his latest release: I've Got the World on Six Strings. Harold Arlen’s songs, such as "Over The Rainbow" are musical icons, with many others are true standards of the golden era of American theatre and movie songs. This music is structured quite differently than pop music from the 60s and 70s, yet that poses no problem for Juber. Although he included jazzy voicings in "Rules of the Road" and in a number of other originals and covers, he also digs in and offers a bluesier, more soulful listening experience than just about anything he's done previously. He typically plays at least two variations on each verse and bridge, changing tempos, reharmonizing, adding walking bass lines, tenths and tasty single string runs. Harold Arlen's chord progressions, strong melodies, and even the history of this material combine to inspire and unleash Juber, as nothing else has previously; while the performance certainly retains his identifiable stamp, Laurence Juber has clearly achieved a new level of expression in this collection.www.laurencejuber.com
